Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate in Pakistan

Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, also known as SLES, is a widely used surfactant and detergent found in many products in Pakistan. It is commonly used as an ingredient in personal care items such as soaps, shampoos, and body washes. It serves to create lather and to remove dirt, oil, and other impurities from the skin. Despite its widespread use, there are some health concerns associated with it – namely irritation of the eyes and skin, as well as possible harmful effects on the respiratory system if inhaled directly. While the jury is still out on just how hazardous SLES can be when topically applied, overall proper safety precautions should be taken when using products containing it.
