Goeppertia (Calathea) roseopicta 'Surprise Star' aka aka 'Princess Jessie' is a cultivar of Goeppertia roseopicta (Linden ex Lem.) Borchs. &amp; S.Suárez. Young leaves emerge bright green to eventually darken to a very dark, almost black colour with stunning, bright pink strokes around the edges and midrib, which look like painted with a paintbrush. Genus name ; 'Goeppertia'; is in honor of the German botanist Heinrich Göppert, and was first described in 1831.
