Fender Parallel Universe Maverick Dorado Electric Guitar Firemist Gold

Fender Parallel Universe Maverick Dorado Electric Guitar Firemist Gold

The Fender Parallel Universe Vol. II Maverick Dorado pays homage to a rarely-seen guitar in Fender history. Released in 1969, the Maverick (or “Custom”) was a hodge-podge of parts, made of leftover 12-string necks, bodies and pickups. Still, it had a goofy grandeur. The Maverick Dorado proudly takes that design, adds Tim Shaw humbuckers and a Bigsby vibrato to create a modern, professional instrument with serious swagger that is here at Guitar Center.

Maverick Dorado Main Features
Gloss-finished alder body 24.75" scale maple neck with C-shape profile, 9.5" radius ebony fretboard
Dual Tim Shaw-designed humbuckers with Filter’Tron covers
Adjusto-matic bridge with Bigsby B50 vibrato tailpiece

Tonewoods, Fit and Finish
The Maverick Dorado features an alder body, a wood that has been a Fender mainstay since the late ’50s. Alder is lightweight with excellent sustain and a sharp attack. A gloss-finish of nitrocellulose lacquer gives the Maverick Dorado a vintage look, but with a futuristic appeal.

Maverick Dorado Neck Construction
The maple neck has a ’60s C-shape profile. The ebony fretboard has a more modern 9.5" radius. Medium jumbo frets facilitate bigger bends.

Tim Shaw Humbuckers
Fender in-house pickup guru Tim Shaw designed the Maverick Dorado’s dual humbuckers. The bridge ’bucker is powerful and throaty; the neck has more chime. A 3-way switch and master volume/tone pots dial up a variety of tones and textures to fit in any genre of music.

Maverick Dorado Hardware
It’s rare to see an Adjusto-matic bridge on a Fender, but the Maverick Dorado isn’t exactly a rule-follower. Paired with a Bigsby B50, the Maverick is capable of subtle surf vibrato, or wang-bar wildness for the young at heart who kneel down at the altar of classic rock. Tuning machines are deluxe cast/sealed with pearl buttons.

Other specs include white pearloid block inlays, 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard, bone nut and aged “witch hat” control knobs.

The Fender Parallel Universe Vol. II Maverick Dorado comes with a certificate of authenticity and a Surf Green deluxe hardshell case.
