-Rustic Scottish Hagstone necklace, natural holey stones found along the shores of Scotland. -Naturally occurring holey stones, these hagstone necklaces would be a magical addition to any collection. All stones were collected on the shores of Scotland, from Dumfries to Ayr, all the way to Oban and further into the Highlands & Islands such as Orkney and Tiree. For anyone who has a special connection to Scotland then these would make the perfect gift. -The necklaces come tied with thread, a small piece of seaglass and a tag detailing exactly where in Scotland it was found. They were each handcrafted into pendants by ourselves at Seasalt Witch Scotland in our wee wooden hut on the Ayrshire Coast and have a wonderful rustic feel about them. -Some of the options have multiple holes, others just the one which the leather and wire have been threaded through. No holes have been drilled or added, all are naturally formed. -A Hag Stone is a mysterious item which has a naturally made hole. Local folklore tells us that if you peer through this hole it may reveal a Fae's true form. There are many myths and legends which tell of mankind using a Hagstone to see through an evil spirits disguise, therefore escaping the fate planned for them. -In regional folk tales it is said that when a Hagstone breaks, it has used its power to save a life. Traditionally Hag Stones would be worn around the neck or hung above windows and fireplaces as it is believed that only good spirits may pass through the hole, therefore many wear them for protection. -Originally Hagstones may have been called "Odin Stones" due to the large Orkney Island monolith by the same name. Throughout history the Orkney Odin Stone has played a role in island courtship and wedding rituals. The two people would stand either side of the stone and held hands through the large hole, solemnly vowing to be forever faithful to one another. Today in many rural areas, Hagstones are still gifted as part of courtship, to be cherished through a lifelog relationship. -The colour and shape of the stones vary, having been shaped over many years by the Scottish Waters. Each will have spent a long time under both the Sun and Moon, infused with energy and ready to be used by the right person. -Repurposed boxes and paper are used for packaging in accordance with our sustainability goals and environmental responsibilities. For size reference see primary photo of pendants next to standard sized business card. -If you have any questions regarding this item then please don't hesitate to ask, your friends at Seasalt Witch Scotland would be happy to assist. *Blessed Be!*
