These beautiful studs begin with unique, one-of-a-kind double terminated quartz crystals. The crystals are completely raw and natural, uncut and unpolished. They grow in these beautiful 18 faceted shapes that you see. Each one is different and no one stone perfectly matches another in shape, size, or clarity, but I handpick each one to find a pleasing pair. I then carefully wrap the stones with 14k Gold Fill or .935 solid silver to turn them into wearable bits of natural beauty. The metal goes straight through the stone, so you can be sure it is secure! Please note, the origin of these stones is Pakistan not NY. I also would highly recommend sizing up if you’re unsure. We measure each stone carefully to make sure they are within the size requirements listed but many customers have commented that they are smaller than expected and we just want to make sure every customer gets the size they want. :) Feel free to message me if you want a more specific size or need more photos! They might not appear sparkly, there could be cloudiness, or they may have flecks of black (as you can see in the first photo). ● Each size has a range of 1 - 1.5mm and each stone is measured carefully with calipers to ensure precision. Look at the photos to see the different sizes and ranges. ● If you’re unhappy with the unique stones you receive, please send us a message and we will be happy to help you. ............................................................................ -About the stone- Double terminated 18 faceted quartz crystals were found in Herkimer NY in the 18th century and because of their clean natural facets and high clarity they were given the name "Herkimer Diamonds". Now similar beautiful 18 faceted crystals have been found in many places around the world (we believe our stones come from one of these other locations). Technically only the stones found in a certain regain of NY can properly bear the name "Herkimer Diamond" (just like the use of the word "Champagne" is reserved in many countries only for sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France). We are currently looking into sourcing a limited number of stones from New York (but the price per stone is quite high). ............................................................................ - About the metal - Gold filled: What is "Gold Filled"? Well it is a way to get the benefits of gold without the huge cost. Think of it as a heavy 14K Gold plating (5% of the metal by weight). This protects your jewelry from tarnishing, and allows your ears to just contact 14K Gold. Silver: We use solid 935 Argentium Silver for these earrings (93.5% solid silver). It is both more tarnish resistant than traditional sterling and also less likely to react to your ears, so double plus! - BEFORE YOU BUY - Please be sure the jewelry you buy is made of a metal that is safe for you!
