YOU GET TO CHOOSE: COTTON – our most popular choice for the top of a blanket as it’s breathable and offers you SO MANY design options! We work only with high quality fabrics, most purchased directly from boutique fabric manufacturers. MINKY – the luxuriousness of this choice is second to none and the top choice for the backing of our blankets. This polyester fabric washes well, and while not as lightweight as the cotton, it offers you a sensory rush with its cloud-like softness. You can choose from dot, lattice, solid, and fur minky options. KIDS WEIGHT & SIZE – For KIDS, most therapists recommend the weight of the blanket be 10% of the user’s weight, plus one pound. For example, if the user weighs 55 lbs, the blanket should be about 6.5-7lbs. To determine the correct size measure the owner of the blanket from neck to toe and round up to the next size blanket. This will insure that more weight is distributed ON the child rather than the bed around them. However, we understand many moms are concerned about their children growing quickly, and in that case, we can definitely go up a size, but recommend an extra pound or two of weight is added. ADULT WEIGHT & SIZE - For ADULTS, usually our 40x60” (5 feet long) or 40x72” (6 feet long) blankets fit best. The best way to choose is to look at both the height of the person and whether or not they tuck blankets around shoulders and/or feet. The 10% of body weight plus one pound was a formula that many therapists were using for children as these blankets were first being used. Lately, many are saying that adults may want to look at something more in the 8-10% range, taking into account the difference between ideal body weight and actual body weight. At Justice Gifts, we’ve never had anyone give us feedback that a blanket is too light, but we have heard from a handful of people over the years that the blanket is too heavy. If you’re unsure, please be sure to consult a therapist. POLY vs GLASS PELLET – At Justice Gifts, you get to choose whether you get Glass or Poly Pellets. Glass is much smaller and more dense than our standard non-toxic poly pellet. So, the biggest difference is simply the size and feel. For the poly pellets, you can imagine the feel of dry split peas or lentils. With the glass pellet option, it's more the feel of a smooth sand or even chia seeds. The other big difference is the poly pellets tend to hold heat more than the glass, so temperature is a consideration. Both are really great options, and it's truly comes down to preference. :) PERSONALIZATION – We do offer embroidery personalization. Our standard fee is $10/blanket.
